Pete Tychsen
President & Founder | Investment Advisor
Pete Tychsen is the President and Founder of Preservation Financial Group and has been helping individuals and families plan for retirement since 1987. He established his firm in 1996 with a focus on guiding pre-retirees and retirees through the complexities of income planning, tax strategies, and long-term financial security.
His practice specializes in IRA and 401(k) distribution planning, tax-efficient retirement strategies, asset protection, and creating reliable income streams designed to last throughout retirement.

A graduate of Florida State University, Pete continues to study macroeconomics, financial markets, insurance, and investment strategies to better serve his clients.
Pete lives in the Tallahassee area with his wife, LeAnne. They have five children—Andrew, Anna, Arden, Christopher, and Sarah. Outside of his work, he enjoys spending time with his family, as well as fishing, hunting, and being active in his church community.
Andrew Tychsen
Financial Advisor
Andrew Tychsen is a financial advisor with Preservation Financial Group, where he plays an active role in guiding clients through important financial decisions. He’s passionate about working with people, communicating clearly, and solving problems—core parts of his day-to-day work. Andrew finds fulfillment in making a meaningful difference in clients’ lives. Rather than taking a transactional approach, the team at Preservation Financial Group focuses on building long-term relationships and providing thoughtful, personalized guidance. They take a holistic approach—helping individuals with income planning, tax strategies, estate planning, and investing, all tailored to their unique goals. The firm prides itself on being approachable and down-to-earth, offering a relaxed, no-pressure environment. Andrew also values being part of a family business, which adds a personal dimension to his work. Outside the office, he’s outgoing and enjoys connecting with others. In his free time, you’ll often find him hunting, fishing, or out on the water boating.
Karen Buchan
Office Administrator
Karen Buchan supports the firm in a wide range of client- and office-facing responsibilities, including seminar and event planning, annual client reviews, receptionist duties, appointment scheduling, client database management, and preparing onboarding paperwork for new accounts as well as servicing existing ones. She brings a broad background in office administration, client service, financial operations, and systems work, along with international experience gained during a ten-year period serving as a foreign missionary. That combination has shaped her calm, organized approach and her enjoyment of helping people in practical, meaningful ways. Karen especially values the close-knit office environment and the daily interactions with clients. She enjoys welcoming people when they arrive and taking the time to get to know them. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with her husband.
Chris Tychsen
Administrative Assistant
Chris Tychsen is licensed in annuities and insurance and primarily serves as an Administrative Assistant. He handles administrative work, helps with client communication, and speaks at seminars. Chris appreciates that his work gives him the opportunity to help people. He enjoys meeting and talking with clients, speaking at seminars, and continuing to learn more about this field of work. Before starting with us, Chris worked in construction and landscaping and was involved in different small businesses and entrepreneurial efforts. He took this position because he enjoys working with people, and was interested in learning more about retirement and financial services. He could be described as hardworking, outgoing, and caring. Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time in the gym, being outdoors, fishing, boating, and traveling.
